About Us
Since its founding in 1978, St. Mark Community Preschool in Newport Beach, CA, has been a special place for children. Our program provides a multi-cultural curriculum in a learning environment that nurtures physical, emotional, social, intellectual and spiritual growth. Our aim is to create an atmosphere that affirms the importance of every person and encourages the creative exploration of the physical world, interpersonal relationships, and new ideas.
Our Preschool’s program offers children a balance of indoor and outdoor activities. Students are offered a variety of concrete experiences to help them distinguish and create patterns in the world around them. Children also have many opportunities to improve their communications skills. Our program includes art, music, rhythmic movement and dramatic play. The children are encouraged to appreciate the wonders of God’s creation, and students also learn about people from other cultures.

St. Mark Community Preschool opened its doors to 10 students in January, 1978. Mary Hornbuckle joined the staff as its second teacher that Fall, and has served as Preschool Director since 1988. Our new campus now has an enrollment of about 110 children who attend from two to five days per week, with a maximum of 72 children attending on any given day.
